Topgolf is planning a location in St. Pete. The Dallas based company first came to the Tampa Bay area in 2014, when they opened their Brandon location. The new proposed facility is set to be around 67,000 square feet. The company has targeted a 12 acre site off of Carillon Parkway near Transamerica Financial Advisors as the potential location.
The “eater-tainment” style business will pair its unique driving range with an extensive food and drink menu. It is suitable for families, date nights, and large groups. In recent years we have seen businesses like Topgolf occupy large spaces that would have once been designated for traditional retail. The ability to offer an experience that can’t be replicated online is a driving factor for their viability.
What Does It Mean For St. Petersburg?
The St. Pete Topgolf is sure to add entertainment value to what is already an entertainment heavy town. While it will definitely add to the cities’ overall appeal, the specific impact can be a hard thing to actually quantify.
If we compare it to the Brandon location we can expect it to add around 400 new jobs to the community. The average Topgolf facility costs $18 million to build and will typically generate somewhere around $20 million annually. With numbers like this it is easy to see how the planned St. Pete Topgolf would be a significant addition the local business community.
The company has been expanding rapidly over the past few years and has no plans of slowing down. Their ability to attract a large amount of total daily customers combined with a high rate of repeat business makes them a desirable option for cities and sponsors alike.
